About the Job:

Job Purpose & Scope

The Commercial Lender is responsible for managing a portfolio of business clients, originating new commercial loans, and providing personalized lending solutions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in commercial lending, excellent client relationship skills, and the ability to assess risk while maintaining a focus on business growth and customer satisfaction.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Business Development: Proactively generate new commercial loan and deposit business by networking, cultivating relationships, and identifying opportunities within the local business community.
  • Loan Origination: Assess and structure customized loan solutions, including working capital lines of credit, term loans, equipment financing, and commercial real estate loans.
  • Credit Analysis: Knowledge and ability to analyze financial statements, tax returns, cash flow projections, and other documents to evaluate creditworthiness and structure appropriate loan terms to send to commercial underwriter to further analyze and approve.
  • Portfolio Management: Manage and monitor an existing portfolio of commercial loans, ensuring timely renewals and performing credit reviews to mitigate risk.
  • Client Relationship Management: Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, providing ongoing support and guidance throughout the loan lifecycle.
  •  Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams (e.g., credit, risk management, and operations) to ensure smooth loan processing and compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Market Research: Stay informed about industry trends and market conditions to offer relevant advice to clients and remain competitive in the marketplace.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in commercial lending, business banking, or a similar financial services role.

Knowledge, Skills, and abilities:

  • Strong understanding of commercial lending products, credit analysis, and risk management.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain client relationships.
  • Detail-oriented, with the ability to analyze financial data and make sound lending decisions.
  • Proficiency in financial analysis tools and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
